The public is invited to view the exhibit in the library of the Cairo Jr./Sr. High
School, 4200 Sycamore in Cairo, September 9-11, 2022. The show features the work of
The Artist Collective on Race, Equity and Unity, an interdisciplinary group of master artists.”
Exhibitors include visual artists Mike Faris, curator, Najaar Abdul-Musawir, and Robert A.
Ketchens, and performance artists Howard Hewett, Samuel Hawkins and Callon B. The show
was commissioned by Legacy Training, Inc. as a response to the study tour of the Equal Justice
Institute in Montgomery, Alabama. The opening reception will feature the artists for a
performance and discussion of their work, on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 4 p.m. Light
refreshments will be served.

educating the community, commented Lynne Chambers, Executive Director, Legacy Training,
Inc. “I am utterly amazed by the stories that will be told, and the genius of the work.”
There is no cost to attend the exhibit. The program is partially supported by a grant from
The Southern Arts Fund, a program of Artspace 304, and the Illinois Arts Council Agency made
possible by the National Endowment for the Arts.
